Timothy Louis
Bodnar
Jul 30, 1975 — Sep 7, 2026
Brookville, Indiana
Timothy Louis Bodnar, age 51, passed away unexpectedly on September 7, 2026 in Oxford, Ohio.
Born July 30, 1975, in Sidney Ohio, he was the son of Richard & Nancy Bodnar.
Tim was happiest outdoors. An avid hiker and backpacker, he lived with a spirit of adventure that never seemed to run out, and that drew others to him. His love of the outdoors was a gift passed down from his father, and one he took great joy in sharing; often leading his siblings, nieces and nephews, up trails and into the back country giving that same sense of wonder to the next generation.
Tim served in the United States Navy and was a welder by trade. Tim took great pride in his craftsmanship and for a time ran his own business, bringing to his work the same energy and independence he brought to everything he did.
Tim is survived by his parents, Rich & Nancy Bodnar of Brookville; three sisters, Paige (Chris) Persinger, Tricia (Mick) Munafo, Betsy (Brian) Bodnar; an aunt, Lorna Naylor, an uncle Bruce Bodnar; 9 nieces & nephews, 5 great nieces & 1 great nephew, who will carry on his love of adventure and the open trail forward with them.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Merritt & Betty Naylor, paternal grandparents, Louis & Edna Bodnar; an aunt Nancy Freismuth, as well as an uncle Richard “Dick” Naylor.
The family will conduct a private Celebration of Life.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the National Park Foundation. The staff of Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home are honored to serve the family of Timothy Bodnar, to sign the online guest book or send personal condolences please visit www.phillipsandmeyers.com.
