Thelma
Karbowski
Dec 5, 1923 — Nov 22, 2018
Thelma Riedman Karbowski, of Plantation, FL, formerly of Cincinnati, OH and Brookville, IN, died peacefully November 22, 2018 just short of her 95th birthday. Surviving Mrs. Karbowski are brother, Harry Riedman, Cincinnati, and children, Karen Dawes, Tina Brooks, Tom, Mike, Greg, and Ted Karbowski, fourteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Thelma had a great sense of humor, inspired others, and was admired by all with her wit and fortitude. Prior to her marriage to James Karbowski in 1945, she worked as a TWA flight attendant and a welder during World War II. Following the sudden passing of her husband in 1975, she was a travel agent and Amway distributor. She remained devoted to her husband, James, until death. Those who knew her can attest to her habit of making immediate friends with everyone, including strangers, and never forgetting her small-town roots of Brookville, IN. She lived a long, happy life – a young widow devoted to her children and grandchildren. She is now at peace, reunited with James, the love of her life.
She is preceded in death by her loving brothers and sisters: Charles, Richard, Ronald, Norbert, Dorothy, Alean (Babe) Riedman, and Phyllis Clark.
Rev. Vincent Lampert will officiate the committal service on Friday, December 14, 2018, 10:30 A.M., at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Brookville, Indiana.
The family extends a special note of thanks to daughters Tina, Karen, and son, Ted, who provided care which allowed her to stay in her home until a few years ago. Also, special thanks go out to neighbor, Tess Lupo, caregiver, Benata Jean Francois, and St John's Nursing Center Catholic Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HOPE Outreach, Davie, FL, or St. Jude's Hospital.
