Shirley Ruth Powell, age 88, of Brookville, Indiana died Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the Brookville Healthcare Center in Brookville.

Born May 5, 1931 in East Monroe, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Harold Walter & Elsie Beryl (Elton) Powell. She was a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She was a retired schoolteacher and published writer. In her leisure time she enjoyed the library; and reading and writing poetry.

Survivors include two sisters, Gail J. Bolser of Brookville, Indiana and Patricia Ann Gloverman of Kettering Ohio.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold F. Powell.

There will be no public services, as Shirley bequeathed her remains to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine for the advancement of medical science.
