Russell William Hurst, age 72, of West Harrison, Indiana died Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at his residence, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born January 18, 1943 in Hamilton, Ohio he was the son of the late Sam & Birdella (Lake) Hurst. On July 2, 1959 he was united in marriage to the former Janet Evans, and she survives. Russell was a farmer and had farmed in Franklin County for much of his life. In his leisure time he enjoyed horses & mules, working on his tractors and farm equipment and perhaps most importantly spending time with his family. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, Palomino Horse Breeders of America, and the International Buckskin Horse Association. He was also a former Franklin County 4-H Horse and Pony Club leader. Besides Janet, his loving wife of over 56 years, survivors include four children; Diana (Kenneth) Getz of West Harrison, Indiana, Donna Boughner of West Harrison, Indiana, Deborah (Jerrod) Tibbetts of Blooming Grove, Indiana and Troy (Holly) Hurst of West Harrison, Indiana; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a sister & brother-in-law, Kathleen & Bob Whitney of Brookville, Indiana, and a brother, Ed Hurst of Richmond, Virginia. Rev. Francis J. Eckstein will officiate the Funeral Services at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Holy Guardian Angels Chapel, 405 US Highway 52, Cedar Grove, Indiana. Burial will then follow in Holy Guardian Angels Cemetery. Family & friends may visit from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 12:00 Noon, on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Holy Guardian Angels Chapel in Cedar Grove, Indiana.
