Obituary

Melvin Paul Allen, age 77, of Metamora, Indiana died Wednesday June 17, 2020 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Born September 1, 1942, in Franklin County, Indiana he was the son of the late Bleve C. & Edith O. (Burch) Allen.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having retired after serving over 21 years of active duty.

On January 12, 1980 he was united in marriage to the former Barbara J. Moniz, and she survives.  He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, as well as the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion.  In his leisure time he enjoyed woodworking, making birdhouses and toys for his grandchildren.

Besides Barbara, his wife of over 40 years, survivors include a daughter, Tracy Ann Allen-Hardwick of Ohio; two step daughters, Jo Ann Abbate of Indiana and Lucy Ann Tatupu of California; three sisters, Jean Ott of Metamora, Indiana, Sharon Rasner of Connersville, Indiana and Peggy Free of Connersville, Indiana, two brothers, Delbert Allen of Metamora, Indiana and Walter Allen of Brookville, Indiana; 19 grandchildren, as well as 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Wireman and Teri Wilson; two brothers, Isham Allen and Stanley Allen; and two sons, John Michael Moniz and Brian Paul Allen.

Pastor Tim Roberts & Walter Allen will officiate the Funeral Services on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, 1:00 P.M. at Trinity Full Gospel Holiness Church, 20015 Haytown Road, Metamora, Indiana.

Family & friends may visit from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Trinity Full Gospel Holiness Church in Metamora.  Burial will then follow in Cupps Chapel Cemetery in Metamora with full military graveside honors by the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion.
