Marlene Lunsford Nichols, age 84, of Laurel, Indiana died early Thursday morning, June 5, 2025 at her residence, following a lengthy illness.

Born October 14, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Matt & Viola (Perkins) Shelton.

Marlene was a beautician and cosmetologist.  In her leisure time she enjoyed playing euchre, bingo, and attending garage sales.

Survivors include two children; David Lunsford of Batesville, Indiana, and Gina Dirkhising of Laurel, Indiana; five grandchildren, Davey Allen, James (Nicole) Phillips, Jessica Phillips, Jennifer (Eric Harvey) Mercurio and Jesse David Lunsford; 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Jesse Lunsford, Leon Nichols and Joe Harvey; two grandsons, Matthew Allen and Cody Phillips; and her siblings, Julie Abel, Bob Abel, Juanita Miller, Patricia Calihan, and Gordon Helderman.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
