John Ray Houston Sr., age 71, of Brookville, Indiana died Friday, August 4, 2017 at the home of his daughter in Brookville, Indiana.

Born November 10, 1945 in Franklin County, Indiana he was the son of the late Denver Colson & Letta (Ball) Houston.  He was a member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church.  In his leisure time he enjoyed spending time with his family & working on cars and tractors.

Survivors include three children and their spouses, Samantha (Derek) Fields of Laurel, Indiana, Angela (Bob) Thomasson of Brookville, Indiana; John R Houston Jr. of Seymour, Indiana; five grandchildren, Jessica (Cam) Travis, Christopher Thomasson, Megan Thomasson and Devon, William Fields & Olivia Fields; two great-grandchildren, Peyton Powell & Ella Travis; three sisters, Phyllis Ison of Brookville, Indiana, Lucille Crain of Greensburg, Indiana and Georgia Harrison of Brookville, Indiana; one brother, Sam Houston of Brookville, Indiana.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, as well as a brother Olin Houston Sr. who died November 11, 2007.

Family & friends may visit from 4 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Ave., Brookville.

Rev. Rob Edwards, Pastor of Buena Baptist Church, will officiate the Funeral Services at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home in Brookville.  Burial will then follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
