Joanne Harnishfeger-Sottong, age 72, of Brookville, passed away Wednesday morning, June 18, 2025, at her residence.

A daughter of Paul and Lawana Myers Harnishfeger, Joanne was born June 7, 1953, in Franklin County.

Joanne was known for owning and operating Brookville's first fast food restaurant, Arby's. She was the past president and active member of the Franklin County Humane Society. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Brookville as well as the Franklin County High School Advisory Council. Joanne enjoyed researching family history and rescuing and caring for all sorts of animals including dogs, cats, flying squirrels, and raccoons.

Survivors include her daughter, Heather Sottong, of Brookville; and a brother Paul (Mary) Harnishfeger of Martinsville, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Joanne is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Ann Birkenheuer and Judy Harnishfeger; and a brother, Jerry F. Harnishfeger.

Reverend Vincent P. Lampert will celebrate the memorial mass which will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 145 E.
