James F.
Hodapp
Oct 22, 1939 — Jun 19, 2018
James F. Hodapp, age 78, of Metamora, Indiana died Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana.
Born October 22, 1939 in Hamilton, Ohio he was the son of the late Fred & Irma (Utzinger) Hodapp. On October 21, 1961 he and the former Margaret Kowalsky were united in marriage and she survives.
Jim was retired, having farmed in Franklin County for many years, and had also worked as a logger and truck driver. In his leisure time he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and running his dogs. He was a member of Franklin County E.M.S. for nearly 20 years, where he had been recognized for having driven 200 ambulance runs in a single year.
Besides Margaret, his loving wife of nearly 57 years, survivors include three children, Ruth Ann (Brent) Leffingwell, James H. Hodapp, and Joseph C. (Brandy) Hodapp all of Brookville, Indiana; nine grandchildren; six great-granddaughters; a sister Mary Alice Hodapp of Bright, Indiana, a brother, Thomas Hodapp of Brookville, Indiana as well as many nieces & nephews.
Anyone who knew Jim Hodapp, knew he liked to do things his own way, and that includes how he wanted his final arrangements. Jim told the family he wanted no visitation or funeral but instead a celebration of his life, where friends and family could gather to remember him and share stories…Jim wanted people to know he loved his family, enjoyed time with his friends, and was honored to serve for almost twenty years on Franklin County EMS.
In keeping his wishes, the family will hold an Open House, from one o'clock until six o'clock on Sunday afternoon, July 1, 2018, at the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion, 1290 Fairfield Avenue, Brookville, Indiana. We hope everyone will join us in celebrating Jim's life.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home is honored to serve the Hodapp family, to sign the online guest book or send personal condolences please visit www.phillipsandmeyers.com .
