Eugene Thomas, age 84, of Metamora, Indiana died unexpectedly Thursday, October 8, 2026, his residence in Metamora.

Born September 5, 1942, in Gray Hawk, Kentucky he was the son of the late Willie & Geraldine (Vickers) Thomas. He was a Veteran of the United States Army.

He was united in marriage in 1970 to the former Teresa K. Roberts, and she preceded him in death on December 2, 1996. He later married Diane Burgess in 1998, and she survives.

He worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator; and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18. In his leisure time he enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, camping, and being outdoors.

He was a member of the Trinity Full Gospel Holiness Church in Metamora.

In addition to Diane, his loving wife of more than 28 years, he is survived by his daughter, Tracy Thomas of Richmond, Indiana; four sons, Andy Thomas, Bradley Thomas, and Leroy Roberts, all of Metamora, Indiana, and Randy Roberts of Connersville, Indiana; four granddaughters; six grandsons; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by five siblings: Wanda (Mike) McDaniel of Metamora, Indiana; Rita (Rick) Lewis of Batesville, Indiana; Judy Thomas of Hamilton, Ohio; Joyce Carey of Laurel, Indiana; and Ray Thomas of Metamora, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Teresa Thomas, one sister and three brothers.

Family & friends may visit from 4 till 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Trinity Full Gospel Holiness Church, 20015 Haytown Hill Road, Metamora, Indiana.

Pastor Caleb Robertson and Jimmy Wells will officiate the Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at Trinity Full Gospel Holiness Church in Metamora. Burial will then follow in Cupps Chapel Cemetery in Metamora, Indiana.
