Clarence Metcalf, age 81, of Brookville, Indiana died suddenly Friday, October 30, 2015 in the Emergency Department at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville, Indiana. Born December 1, 1933 in Clay County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late J.P. "Bud" & Earsley (Scott) Metcalf. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. On April 3, 1965 he was united in marriage to the former Laverne Mullins, and she survives. He was retired from Owens Corning in Brookville, and had also farmed in Franklin County for much of his life. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and was an excellent gardener. Besides Laverne, his loving wife of over 50 years, survivors include three sons, Preston (Brandy) Metcalf, Jimmy (Teresa) Metcalf and Roger Metcalf all of Brookville, Indiana; three grandchildren, Katie, Bud, and Ron; two great-grandchildren, Aiden & Olivia Prater; four sisters, Mary Rose Metcalf and Virginia Mundy both of Brookville, Indiana, Edna (Tony) Krawczak of Chicago, Illinois, Mae Brockway of Florida, as well as a brother, Delbert (Diane) Metcalf of Brookville, Indiana. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Brenda Jean Canada and Natalie Metcalf, as well as a brother, John C. Metcalf. Family & friends may visit from 9:30 until the time of the Funeral Services at 11:30 A.M. on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville. Pastor Paul Shoemaker will officiate the Funeral Services at 11:30 A.M. on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home in Brookville. Burial with full military graveside honors by the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
