Obituary

Carol I. Stewart, age 91, of Brookville Indiana died suddenly Monday night, October 12, 2015 at his residence in Brookville. Born November 10, 1923 in Franklin County, Indiana he was the son of the late William & Mabel (Garrison) Stewart. He was a graduate of the former Brookville High School with the Class of 1942. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. On August 2, 1944 he was united in marriage to the former Pearl Bravard, and she survives. After his Honorable Discharge from the Army, he became a Conservation Officer in Jackson County, Indiana, later going to work as a Sales Representative for Robinson Feed Mill in Brownstown, Indiana. In the early 1950 s he moved back home to Franklin County, where he began a long career in his own Heavy Equipment/Excavating Business. He had also served as Franklin County Sanitarian for several years. In his leisure time he enjoyed spending time with his family and being outdoors. Carol was a member of the Brookville United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and was a former member of the Franklin County Health Board. Besides Pearl, his loving wife of over 71 years, survivors include a daughter, Bridget Tarvin of Connersville, Indiana; a granddaughter, Stacey (Nicole Taylor) Tarvin of Indianapolis, Indiana a grandson, Nick (Katie) Tarvin of Westfield, Indiana; three great-grandchildren, Samuel Tarvin, Callan Tarvin and Emery Tarvin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Murphy and Mary Belle Stewart, and three brothers, Clifford Stewart, Frank Stewart, and Howard Stewart; as well as his son-in-law, Tom Tarvin. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, October 16, 2015, 11:30 A.M., at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville. Burial with full military Graveside Honors by the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville. Family & friends may visit from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the services at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home in Brookville.
