Bonita Marie Back passed away peacefully on April 24 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville, Indiana at the age of 77.  Bonnie was born on February 15, 1940 and was the only child of the late William and Florence (Doerflein) Haining at the family farm on English Hill in Cedar Grove, Indiana.

Bonnie graduated from Whitewater High School in 1958.  She worked at Whitewater Publications from 1959-1974 as the society editor.  In 1980, she was elected as the Franklin County Recorder and served in that office for two terms.  In 1992 she served a term as the Franklin County Clerk.  She was very active in politics, serving as the Franklin County Democratic Chairperson for several years, and was also a member of the Democratic Women's Club.  She was a former member of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Whitewater 4-H club leader and a member of Red Hats.

She married Gene Maucher on October 10, 1970; he preceded her in death in 1976.  They built a house on the family farm on English Hill where she lived until last year.

On April 15, 1978, she married David H. Back; he survives.  Throughout their 39 years of marriage, they enjoyed hosting parties and campouts for family and friends, traveling, and listening to bluegrass music.

Other survivors include stepchildren Wanda (Dave) Siebert, Greensburg; Polly (Jim) Kruthaupt, Batesville; Brenda (Leonard) Eckstein, Batesville; Tammy (Terry) Moore, Brookville; and Bryan (Toni Flaspohler) Back, Batesville; grandchildren Doug (Tracy Erhart) Kruthaupt, Batesville; Jennifer Siebert, Greensburg; Andrew (Amanda) Kruthaupt, Oldenburg; Michelle Siebert, Westfield; Brad (Katelin Schomber) Kruthaupt, Greensburg; Maria Moore, Brookville; Cody Moore, Brookville; and great-grandchildren Aubrey and Breelan Kruthaupt, Oldenburg.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 28, at Holy Guardian Angels Church, 405 U.S. HWY 52, Cedar Grove, Indiana.

The Very Rev. Sean R. Danda will officiate the Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the church with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 A.M.   Memorials may be made at the church to the Clara A. Back Scholarship Fund.
