Alta J. Meier, age 77, of Brookville, Indiana died Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at her residence.
Born January 20, 1939 in Cincinnati, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Arlie B. & Alice (Wright) Cox. She was united in marriage to Frank Meier on May 25, 1963 and he survives.
She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Brookville; in her leisure time she enjoyed taking care of her family and her grandchildren; bowling; playing bingo; as well as playing cards.
Besides Frank, her husband of over 53 years, survivors include one daughter & son-in-law, Jane & Jim Crawford of Brookville, Indiana; three sons & daughters-in-law, Ron & Annette Meier, Jim & Jenny Meier and Greg & Megan Meier all of Brookville, Indiana; 8 grandchildren, Ben Meier, Brady Meier, Spencer Meier, Denver Meier, Amelia Crawford, Jeanna Crawford, Chloe Meier and Campbell Meier; two sisters, Rose Marie Dula of Rome, Georgia and Margaret Feller of Harrison, Ohio; two brothers, John Louis Cox of Florence, Kentucky and Richard Cox of Mesa, Arizona.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Alice Wilhelm; as well as four brothers, Arlie Cox Jr., James R. Cox., William Cox, and Donald Charles Cox.
Family & friends may visit from 4 until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 P.M..
The Very Rev. Sean R. Danda, Pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, September 2, 2016 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 145 St. Michael Blvd., Brookville, Indiana. Burial will then follow in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Brookville.
