Ada Marie Van Ness, age 95, of Indianapolis, Indiana died Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Bloom of German Church in Indianapolis.

Born August 10, 1922 in Bath Township, Franklin County, Indiana she was the daughter of the late Gideon & Ada B. (Foley) VanNess.  She was a graduate of Wm. McGuffey High School and Miami University of Oxford, Ohio.  She received her Masters Degree in Preventive Medicine from Ohio State University.

Ms. VanNess was a member of the American Dietetic Association, and had retired from the Indiana University Medical Center as Assistant Professor and Director of Nutritional Services at Indiana University Hospital.  Other work experiences included Nutritional Consultant at Indiana State Board of Health, and Chief Clinical Dietician at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.  She was a member and past president of the Indiana State Dietetic Association.  In 1977 she received the Honored Dietician Award.

In her leisure time she enjoyed volunteering at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the  Meals on Wheels Program, and Community Hospital East.  She was also a member of the Executive Service Corporation, where she was a 1991 recipient of the Frederic M. Hadley Service Award.

Survivors include several nieces & nephews.  She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucy Fogg and Mabel Roth.

Family & friends may visit from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, with burial following in Big Cedar Cemetery in Brookville.
