Irvin P. Smith, age 94, of Brookville, Indiana died Thursday, October 18, 2012 at McCullough Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio.
Born July 21, 1918 in Brookville, Indiana he was the son of the late Claude & Anna (Neff) Smith. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was retired from the Franklin County Community School Corporation where he served as director of maintenance for many years.
On May 6, 1947 he was united in marriage to the former Marjorie Wolf, and she survives.
He was a member of the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion, as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2014 of Brookville.
Besides Marjorie, his wife of over 65 years, survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gregory P. Smith & Jodi Sowers of Indianapolis, Indiana; as well as two grandchildren, Nathan Paul Smith and Alyssa Rose Smith.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Jackson, as well as two brothers, Donald R. (Buck) Smith and Stanley (Pete) Smith.
Family & friends may visit from 9:30 till 10:30 A.M. on Monday, October 22, 2012 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, October 22, 2012 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors by the Bernard Hurst Post #77of the American Legion will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
